It’s Christmas – finally! Personally, it’s my favorite time of the year. People are friendlier, neighborhoods and downtown shops are decorated, the weather is cold and crisp, and everyone is spreading good cheer. The only downside? When your Aunt Ida gives you a horrible oversized sweater straight out of the Cosby Show, and you have to grin and bear the horror. Well, ladies and gentlemen, I’m here to help. Call it my Christmas good deed. If you want to know exactly what that special dude in your life needs this year – from husbands and boyfriends to nephews and sons – I’m coming at you with some of my favorite stuff, and some stuff on my wishlist. Let’s dive in.

I’m 31 now, and what you tend to find as you get older is that the first place you’ll start to notice your age is right smack dab in the face. A few years ago, I decided to be proactive and start taking better care of my skin by doing simple things like use a good moisturizer and wash with natural products, and some more complex stuff like exfoliate and peel masks. But the last few months I’ve been using the rockstar of skin care products; the PMD.

The personal microdermabrasion device helps reduce enlarged pores, eliminate in-grown hairs, and smooth rough skin, as well as brighten, smooth, and even skin tone and texture while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The whole process takes all of about 90 seconds, and you only need to use it once per week. The difference has been pretty amazing, and it’s quickly become my go-to skincare product.

JJ Suspenders

Another thing I’ve learned with age is that every man needs at least one good, well-made, properly fitting suit in the closet. I recently ditched my old out-of-date suit and upgraded to a much more well-fitted and classic grey suit, and when I put it on, I can’t help but feel the confidence wash over me. But the devil’s in the details, and nothing is more fun than beefing up that great suit with some great accessory pieces. One of my favorites? JJ Suspenders. They’re modern, they’re cool, and they add a great edge to a classic outfit. Plus they have options ranging from classic suspenders to more casual leather suspenders that pair perfectly with jeans and chinos. Any way you slice it, JJ Suspenders are downright cool.

Topo Designs

I’m an avid outdoorsman, and I live around the mountains – Need I explain more why I love Topo? This is a brand that just oozes cool, and my personal favorite piece from Topo is by far my Klettersack. It’s rugged, it’s badass looking, and it’s built like a work horse. Made from 1000D Cordura for the exterior and coated pack cloth for an entirely lined inner compartment, it also has natural leather lash tabs that I often use to tie on extra gear when I’m out hiking or out and about around town. And that’s really the beauty of this bag; it’s as at home in the mountains as it is downtown.

Sunglass Warehouse

I have a thing about sunglasses. That is, I have a thing about constantly looking for and buying sunglasses every chance I get. The problem is that this can end up being a costly collection. But thanks to Sunglass Warehouse, you can now access hundreds of frames and styles for around $15 a pop. My Benbrooks are with me for most drives, and my Lagoons constantly get compliments. You can’t go wrong with a good pair of shades, and that’s why you need to check out Sunglass Warehouse.

Organ Mountain Outfitters

These guys started out a couple miles down the street from where I’m living and they’re quickly becoming one of the top brands in the southwestern US. It’s not just because of their awesome gear and wilderness-meets-urban vibe; it’s because every purchase you make from their shop goes back to the community.

With the slogan “Buy a shirt, give a lunch, change your community,” OMO gives portions of sales back to the local public schools to help fund their reduced lunch programs and provide a meal to a local child. They’ve become a New Mexico staple and 2018 promises to see them expand beyond the state and bring their unique style and philanthropic pursuits to more states and schools around the country. I own more OMO gear than I can even count at this point – Search the shop and grab some gear. No matter what you end up picking, you can’t go wrong.

Brad Kingett Artwork

Brad has been one of my best friends for nearly 17 years, but speaking totally objectively and unbiasedly, the dude is a mega-talented artist and photographer with a unique eye and an awesome style. His illustrations and artwork are a mix of Ralph Steadman meets Banksy, and his photography ranges from neon splashed futuristic shots to classic portraits and lifestyle. My office currently has about a half-dozen of his pieces and illustrations hanging from the walls, and everyone who walks in tends to say the same thing; “These are awesome. Where’d you get them?” Visit his site and send him an email for custom print portfolios and requests.

As a bearded dude, there are times I need to freshen up the face sweater but I can’t be lugging around a full-sized comb. Go-Comb to the rescue. These bad boys are constructed from durable metal, and are the size of a credit card (which makes it a convenient carry in your wallet.) Even cooler is the option for personalization, and the bottle opener series gives it a real Swiss Army feel. Combs can be lame, but the Go-Comb is one you’re going to want to show off.

Aldo Boots

Every dude needs a good pair of boots, and Aldo offers some of the coolest styles around. Take their Lucio boots – Classic and stylish but bold and edgy. These bad boys have been on my wishlist for quite some time now, so here’s hoping Santa’s been paying attention.

MVMT Watches

Like sunglasses, I can’t get enough of awesome watches. I’ve got everything from classic Fossil to amazing wood Tree Hut and Jord. But MVMT is a brand I’ve had my eye on for a while. Their styles are absolutely stellar, with modern twists on classic looks and amazing color and detail combinations. But the best part is the price; these babies are super affordable and made to be worn every day. My personal favorite at the moment is the Blue Brown – There’s just something about that color combo that makes me drool.
